This is a collection of botanical eco dyed/printed silk scarves, wraps and fabrics. The color of the leaves and botanicals are from the actual plants! In most cases the background colors are all natural or dyed with natural dyes. (Unless indicated as hybrid below image) All are wash-fast and colorfast! Prices range from $65 to $85. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind item of art to wear, made with 100% silk, hand-dyed and eco- printed with botanicals. I use local leaves and plant material as much as I can.
My botanical printed silks are created by layering prepared natural silk with the leaves, flowers and buds of various local plants. The silk and plant material are bundled together, tightly bound and steamed. This process creates a permanent transfer of pigment from the leaves to the silk.
I sometimes take this process a step further by adding permanent professional grade protein dyes to the background adding extraordinary color and pattern to the botanical prints. Pieces indicated by hybrid.
I love this process! It releases remarkable secrets from local plants that we see every day and often take for granted. Botanical dyeing allows me to look beyond the usual green of leaves and to really see the shapes, structure and the chemistry.
It is always very exciting to open a bundle and I am always surprised by the outcome. The result depends on many variables including: soil, climate, water, PH, type and weave of the silk, time of year, amount of time steamed… Time to Learn and experiment…

This is a collection of silk charmeuse hybrid eco dyed/printed scarves. The color of the leaves and botanicals is from the actual plants and the background colors are dyed with professional grade acid dyes. All are colorfast and hand washable. These ‘Flutter Scarves’ were really fun to design and develop. Plus I really enjoy making them! They are made with mostly hand-dyed silks and some commercial silks which I have collected over the years, then nuno felted. They are very lightweight and easy to wear in many different ways. Also, easy care by handwash in warm water with mild soap and line dry.
